Solid cosmetics:

the process

In the cosmetics industry, the process of transforming raw materials into hygiene and personal care products is a blend of science and technique. At Groupe GM Cosmética Portugal, we pride ourselves on our dedication to quality and innovation in every step of this journey.

Let’s delve deeper into the details of this fascinating process?

Soap and syndet production: a chemical approach
Our production involves two main raw materials: soap and syndet noodles. Soap is produced through a chemical process known as saponification, which involves the reaction of fats such as sustainably sourced palm oilolive oil and coconut oil, with a strong base.

Conversely, syndet, (short for “synthetic detergent”), is produced by blending surfactants with gentle properties and balanced pH, ensuring effective yet mild cleansing tailored to the needs of the consumers.

From mixing to packaging: the art of consistency
From cold extrusion process (1) to melt and pour (2)
Both our production processes begin with the careful selection and weighing of raw materials. These ingredients are then mixed and sliced (1) or melted (2) in a stainless-steel reactor, considering the unique melting points of each component to achieve precise formulations.

In the extrusion lines (1), the dough is extruded and compressed into a bar, that is cut, molded, engraved and packed upon clients material selection and designs.

The molten mixture (2) is carefully poured into molds or primary packaging using automated systems, ensuring consistency and accuracy in every batch. Once cooled and packed, our products undergo thorough quality checks before being prepared for distribution.

From the cleanroom to quality control: ensuring precision
Every step of the production process is monitored by a quality supervision operator – from the line equipment’s cleaning to the standards fulfillment in terms of organoleptic aspects, shape, weight, packaging until warehouse storage. Our facilities temperature and humidity conditions are controlled, to ensure the adequate environment for product stability, as people’s wellbeing.

In 2022, we reached a significant milestone with the completion of our state-of-the-art cleanroom facility. This meticulously engineered space is designed to adhere to ISO 7 standards, maintaining low airborne particle concentrations – within this regulated environment, our skilled team ensures the optimal conditions for the manufacturing of a diverse range of products, including conditioners, solid moisturizers, balms and deodorants.

Exceptional products that exceed expectations
The result of our diligent process is a range of products that not only meet but exceed quality and performance standards. Each one is a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation.

Join us on our journey as we continue to push the boundaries of innovation in the realm of hygiene and personal care products.
